[edit]I removed the sentence "The towns of Sorrento, Positano and the Amalfi Coast line the Italian shore of the gulf." Positano and Amalfi Coast are on the Southern side of the Sorrentine Peninsula and therefore are not on the shores of the Gulf of Naples. Furthermore, I'm not sure what is meant by "Italian shore". I retained the link to the town of Sorrento. --Chino 06:18, 8 Apr 2005 (UTC)

corrections
[edit]This Gulf has nothing to do with the Black Sea, changed it to read "opens in the west to the Tyrrhenian Sea".
Also, Mount Everest is nowhere near Italy, removed any reference to that.
Lastly, removed "the Peninsula separates it from the Palatine Hill," which is incorrect. Palatine Hill is in Roma, too far north to be associated with the Gulf of Naples. -- Windsor, 20070407:1700 UTC
I can't seem to find any other stories about these lost torpedoes other than the short article in the Independant. I think this should be removed.

- Scaramella cites the IAEA report which mentions that an unconfirmed submarine accident may have happened in the Gulf of Naples. The idea that it was nuclear torpedos, and the amount of them are details he added himself. I will remove the section entirely since it simply seems to be a rumour, and this comment is sufficient for future reassessment. Link to cited article for future reference. Gulf -> Bay of Naples?
[edit]I know that the Italian is Golfo di Napoli, but the name is usually rendered in English as "Bay of Naples". The English language sources of the page (the Independent article, and the Olympics venues list) both use "Bay". A Google search for "Gulf of Naples" returns 17m matches; searching for "Bay of Naples" gives 73m matches. Scarabocchio (talk) 18:56, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
