[edit]The original text said "fluid resistance". I replaced this with "viscosity". Is this correct? -- Tim Starling 12:07 Apr 16, 2003 (UTC)
- Tim Starling: No. The fluid property called viscosity is an essential element in the explanation of skin friction which is one of two kinds fluid resistance. However, viscosity and fluid resistance aren’t synonymous. (The other kind of fluid resistance is form drag which arises because the pressure over the leading half of a moving object is generally higher than the pressure over the trailing half of the object. Form drag is related primarily to parameters other than the viscosity of the fluid through which the object is moving.) Dolphin (t) 22:48, 18 May 2019 (UTC)

Captain of what?
[edit]'He returned with the rank of Captain' Was this a military rank? In which arm of the services did he serve? Who "sent" him to these places ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.44.36.227 (talk) 09:07, 31 January 2017 (UTC)
- It is a military rank. Coulomb was an officer in the Corps of royal Engineers, having been taught at the Ecole royale du génie de Mézières.--Verbex (talk) 13:50, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
