Deaths from war alone ?
[edit]Missed information over rinderpest and locusts killing indirectly herero also main reason they did attack germans with plan see german Wikipedia etc.
Article scope
[edit]This article deals with the Herero people, but Wikimedia's list of Wikis links here, implying this article is on Herero language. If a Wikipedia in any language has been started, there should be an article on the English wiki on that language. I think someone (not me, I'm not specialised) has to start an article on Herero an link the language list to it, rather than to this page.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Steinbach (talk • contribs) 12:00, 31 January 2005 (UTC)
Traditional dress
[edit]If anyone here has any Herero proficiency, please take a look at this proposal and at the small Herero encyclopedia itself to see what should be done with this wikipedia (keep it or delete it.)
Please do not respond here but rather at that discussion (meta:Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Herero Wikipedia). --A. B. (talk) 12:03, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Population
[edit]The German Wiki on this subject says that there are 120.000 Hereros Hapla (talk) 14:32, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Redirect
[edit]For some reason, if you type 'the herero' into wikipedia it doesn't go to this page at all. It'll only work if you type in just 'herero', is there any way to fix this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.86.129.196 (talk) 01:15, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- Will do. — kwami (talk) 05:04, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
Racial stereotypes
[edit]The whole "separate Africans" by using racial stereotypes is getting really old: "The notably lighter skin color, finer facial features, greater stature and warrior ethos found amongst some Herero members relative to other Bantu peoples are believed to be physical and cultural traits inherited from these exchanges." A very racist and invalid quote to put in. So what do you do when an old 1966 reference is used in these kind of articles? --69.246.120.240 (talk) 03:09, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- That's a problem with a lot of 3rd-world ethnology articles. I think a lot of it might perhaps be due to what is out of copyright or otherwise freely available online. — kwami (talk) 05:04, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- Here I am 12 years later with the same problem. Parts of this article are outright racist! Justpasding (talk) 17:01, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- The offending OP sentence is no longer there. Whatever problematic wording remains, if you don't want to improve it yourself, do point it out here, and someone might assist. --Pgallert (talk) 21:06, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks, I did make some improvements, after I made the comment. Justpasding (talk) 11:19, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
