Have worked in a corporate environment doing IT support since approximately 1998, building, repairing, programming, phone support, on-site support, networking (including building cables), etc.

Before then, for about 3-4 years, was computer store tech and then computer store owner (but still tech). Tended to cater to customers who couldn't afford much, therefore got very good at making junk work.

Before that, did income tax preparation for about 3 years, which also involved rebuilding the computers before the beginning of every tax season, using whatever parts could be scrounged cheap.

Before and during the income tax and computer store years, worked for a fence company, putting in fences and building decks. Also helped with house remodeling.

Before that, took about 4 years of college for a degree in programming.
