[edit]Please can somebody add a image of Reynolds' Omai which will be in the gallery for the next 5 years.
I am removing the The Gallery Today from the main article pending a search for reference and a rewrite to make it less editorial sounding.Notjim 21:16, 2 Jan 2005 (UTC)
The Gallery Today
[edit]The National Gallery of Ireland has a strong representative collection with many good paintings and a number of superb ones. The Caravaggio, the Vermeer, the Guercino, the Rembrandt genre painting, the Yeats collection; there is plenty to see and the setting is both fine and unobstrusive. The hang is intellegant and coherant. The major strength of the collection is Old Master painting and Irish painting, the major weakness is painting from 1850 onwards, something that will be hard to correct now.
The Millenium Wing has added drama to the architecture and has added a busy restaurant, cafe and bookshop to the Gallery, along with a fine gallery used for a permanent display of twentieth century Irish art and another gallery which is used for visiting exhibitions. Set against this, the Millenium Wing is an unforgiving building and the standard of maintenance it demands is not always met, nor has the Gallery fully resolved the challanges the layout presents to clarity and circulation. Generally, the National Gallery of Ireland shows signs of both a slightly down-at-heels past and of its future potential as a national institution worthy of its collection.
Millenium Wing
[edit]The section on the Millennium Wing provides a good deal of criticism of the building which seems inappropriate for this venue without a source citation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AlanEisen (talk • contribs) 16:05, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
There are two pictures of the interior of the Millennium Wing, which is probably unneccessary, there is not much in the different view points. I suggest we remove one. I also took a picture of the outside. It's not the worlds greatest picture simply because this is a B class article. If it had of been a Stub or a Start, I would have just added it. I shall put it here to see if anyone agrees or disagrees. --DubhEire (talk) 11:53, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

I think this picture represents the interior of the Millennium Wing well enough
