Talk:Old Labour

This definition of Old Labour is at least questionable - most of the Party would see OL more in terms of the values of the George Brown/Jim Callaghan wing of the party in the 70s, strongly TU-based (good!) but not instinctively 'liberal'. For this reason many of the Party have sought for an alternative description of the Party's mainstream - 'Classic Labour' from the Nottingham City Leader, seems to me a good one.Linuxlad 10:55, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I think the definition is questionable but I couldn't think of a better one - it is a term which should have an entry here IMO, but perhaps someone can suggest a better, perhaps more flexible definition. User:DavidFarmbrough 1 Jun 2005 13:55 (BST)
- Callaghan was most definitely not on the left of the party (though he would be by today's standards, Labour's leadership being, on some issues [by no means all], not merely Tory but radically so).
Yeh, it's a commonly used phrase in UK politics that should have it's own entry.
