[edit]Why, Whisper to me? Why? Why all the unnecessary redirects for this person? Why do you persist with this ridiculous campaign? Exploding Boy 06:35, Jul 5, 2004 (UTC)
The correct spelling
[edit]It's supposed to be spelled out like "Shoutarou Morikubo", because as you can tell, Morikubo has three kanji characters for his first name with long "O's" and it's meant to be spelled out. Whoever started out this article somewhat is not aware how the romanization is supposed to be done. Again, it's NOT "Shotaro Morikubo", it's supposed to be "Shoutarou Morikubo" instead. — Vesther 03:20, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
- It's Showtaro according to his official website. If that is the spelling he prefers, then we should keep it that way. DivineLady 11:52, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- It wouldn't be Shoutarou Morikubo, it would be Shōtarō Morikubo. Plus his main webpage uses "Showtaro Morikubo". The cow says MOO!!! 04:05, 16 November 2008 (UTC)moocowsrule
One that looks good in a low cut g-string?
[edit]I'm not sure if his favorite type of woman belongs or not, but, why does it link to Crayon Shin-chan? Is this a series inside joke? 74.116.137.2 17:29, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Requested page history move
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The page history should move from Showtaro Morikubo to Shōtarō Morikubo, because I couldn't move the history myself due to restrictions and also the name should be Shōtarō Morikubo per WP:MOS-JA. Greg Jones II 00:58, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Also, Shōtarō Morikubo was redirected to Showtaro Morikubo before I moved it to Shōtarō Morikubo as per the Manual of Style Japan related articles. Greg Jones II 01:18, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose. Showtaro Morikubo is how the name is spelt on his official website and other sites. Other examples in which the style preferred by the person in question is used over the precise Japanese transliteration include Asuca Hayashi, Kohmi Hirose, and Maki Ohguro. DAJF 01:48, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- The problem with quoting WP:MOS-JA to support this move is that it recommends official trade names over any other romanization (WP:MOS-JA#Names of modern figures), which is what I assume "Showtaro" is, going by a couple of the external links in the article; consider also the edit summary of this diff from last year. —TangentCube, Dialogues 01:52, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- Whoops. I didn't realize that the official trade name was Showtaro instead of Shōtaro. Both Showtaro and Shōtaro are correct romanizations, but the trade name should come first as per WP:MOS-JA and as per naming conventions, the most common name should go first. Greg Jones II 01:57, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- Comment - I have now requested information about this situation from User:Nihonjoe, a Wikipedia administrator. Greg Jones II 01:54, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- The article should remain where it is. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 02:44, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Contest move as per all of the above. It seems that I agree with all of the comments. Greg Jones II 03:29, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Requested move
[edit]ISTM that we can close this listing on WP:RM. There's strong consensus not to move. Andrewa 09:43, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

It was requested that this article be renamed but there was no consensus for it be moved. --Stemonitis 06:18, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Requested move
[edit]This page should be moved to Shōtarō Morikubo per the Manual of Style (Japan-related articles). Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 01:00, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Nope. Per WP:MJ it would be Showtaro Morikubo. The cow says MOO!!! 04:07, 16 November 2008 (UTC)moocowsrule
