Comment - the dates are difficult to pin down exactly - the three or four sources I've consulted so far give different ones for key points of Tortelier's life David Martland 20:50 Dec 10, 2002 (UTC)

I looked in Grove the other day, and it says he joined the Boston SO in 1937, returning to Paris in 1939 to play in the Conservatoire orchestra. There does seem to be some disagreement over dates, though. --Camembert

I put in the link to Amazon, since it has what may be a current recording of his variations on 'May Music Save Peace'. -- David Martland 04:08 17 May 2003 (UTC)
