Talk:Will the Shill
Article Will the Shill listed on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion Apr 26 to May 3 2004, consensus was to keep. Discussion:
Page is devoted to publicizing an insulting epithet, applying it to right-wing columist George Will, and Will McDonough, a sportswriter with whom I am unfamiliar. Smerdis of Tlön 16:19, 26 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- It might be uncomplimentary, but according to Google it seems to be widespread in use and not idiosyncratic to a particular person. This is something that a person might actually expect there to be a redirect from, unlike redirecting from, say, You know, I think columnist George Will is extremely sucky, isn't he? (No one's ever going to type that in seraching for George Will). But, of course, if we have a List of nicknames for George W. Bush, we have to have a List of nicknames for George Will, right? With all 35, I mean all 15 . . . ummm . . . make that all 5, no wait, I mean all 2 . . . no . . . with all 1 nicknames. So even if we delete the disambig page, why not include "Will the Shill" on List of nicknames for George Will and List of nicknames for Will McDonough, eh? Wiwaxia 07:10, 28 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. Good pop-culture information. I added a bit more about where the George Will epithet came from. Alcarillo 08:05, 30 Apr 2004 (UTC)

This page (Will the Shill) as a disambiguation page
[edit]Comments on this page following from Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Disambiguation#Will the Shill:
Certainly as things stand it cannot be sustained as a disambiguation article. After consideration, I have redirected to shill. A quick Google suggests more than one source referring to George Will as "Will the Shill", but unless and until the article contains this information citing a reliable source that meets the standards for biographies of living persons, disambiguation pages should not be associating this term with this person. I do not feel qualified to determine if such content is appropriate, let alone write such a section myself. --MegaSloth (talk) 15:59, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
(further comment) I believe that redirecting to shill is appropriate as this epithet might reasonably be applied to anyone named "Will" who is associated with shill behaviour. --MegaSloth (talk) 16:02, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- I agree. Thanks, MegaSloth. momoricks 22:19, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
