It is actually based on the legend of Alderley which is a woodland in north Cheshire near Alderley Edge. This is nowhere near the Wirral which is Merseyside. It is closer to Stockport and south Manchester.

This is true. I'm removing the Wirral Lmno 20:05, 29 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Plot summaries

[edit]

Over the next few weeks I will try and add plot summaries and character lists to the Alan Garner novels. --Katstevens 00:14, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This perhaps isn't the correct place to post opinion in which case I apologize. I just have to comment how disappointed I was in Boneland and how after reading that it spoiled the original Weirdstone for me for a long time - a book that though an adult - was special to me and I enjoyed for many readings over the years. It is really evident that for some reason, Garner must have really come to actually hate the characters he created long ago - perhaps Garner's life went horribly wrong but for whatever reason it seems he no longer had the feeling of magic and wonder that he once had. I very much wish I'd never read Boneland and am doing the best to disassociate that "downer" from the previous two books.```` — Preceding unsigned comment added by Azrock1965 (talkcontribs) 18:59, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
