Incredibles

[edit]

Mention the Incredibles version?

I don't think she's in the Incredibles Booger-mike (talk) 20:28, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Creskill, NJ

[edit]

Can someone verfiy that she is in fact from Cresskill, NJ? Being from that area, I can't find anything to verify this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.12.240.129 (talk) 22:44, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hawkeye's affair with Jan

[edit]

Thanks for omitting that sickening portion where she had the affair with Hawkeye. This was as odious and idiotic a piece of garbage passing itself as writing as ever seen in the pages of the Avengers. Not only was it utterly out of place, it made NO SENSE. In over 30 years of ESTABLISHED history, these two never had even a glimmer of that kind of relationship, and bottom line, it was a betrayl of their teammate. NEITHER would ever have done such a thing.

Well, she did do such a thing, like it or not. I don't think it should be emphasized, as it is just more of Austen's terrible writing, but it can't be forgotten, either. A passing mention seems fair enough.--Erikacornia 23:12, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wasp's powers

[edit]

I seem to remember the Wasp having some powers of her own before Hank got ahold of her. Didn't Hank use her cells in his experiments to create the Pym Particles? 12.106.111.10 13:49, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're probably thinking of Ultimate Wasp. Her entry is near the bottom of the page. CovenantD 16:45, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My memory is the Wasp's sting came much later. Her first use of a weapon was a sewing needle. (was it used against the Magician?). Hank then made her a wrist mounted air-gun which compressed the air as it shrunk with her. Only later (around the Kree/Skrull war?) did she get "bio blasts". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gaffer206 (talkcontribs) 22:46, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Giant-Girl

[edit]

Where is it said that Giant-Girl is Janet Van Dyne? I haven't seen her named in the book and I've read rumours that she may be Cassie Lang, or a completely new superheroine.

I can only give one reference, but it's to Janet as Giant Woman, not Giant Girl. Avengers #77/492 (March 2004) the issue with the special 50 cent cover price, part one of the "Lionheard of Avalon" arc, has her using her powers to grow giant (which I'd never seen her do before) and later in the issue she's called Giant Woman twice by Thunderball of the Wrecking Crew. Later she shrinks down to Wasp size. Whether any of this is explained in another issue I never read or forgot about or just occured sometime off panel, I have no idea.--RandomNobody1234 06:54, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, the idea that it's not Janet hadn't even occurred to me until now. It seems unlikely that Giant-Girl is Cassie Lang, given that the character has Janet's auburn hair rather than Cassie's blonde and wears a variation on a Hank Pym costume. I have not read all the issues of the Marvel Adventures series however so if there is anything that suggests she is not Janet, please let me know. Rajah1 10:48, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Marvel Adventures #13 lists Giant-Girl as Janet. http://www.marvel.com/catalog/?book_id=6583 MrDenton 21:09, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Added it back in. Rajah1 09:24, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ultimates Version: Plainly Janet started out as Asian, then she's Caucasian with no explanation whatsoever. Anyone know why this is? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.57.177.26 (talk) 04:32, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Insect Wasp?

[edit]

At the risk of getting yelled at... I just got a series of comics called "Avengers Unplugged", where it's mentioned that Wasp had some sort of accident, went into a coma, turned into a cocoon, and then came out looking like a butterfly of sorts. Why isn't this mentioned? Yes, it sucks, but it's part of her storyline. It's only mentioned in the series but I don't own anything else, so I don't know what the heck was up with that. (In that same series there's a beardless, modern-clothing wearing Hercules. Lord help us.) 201.143.220.108 08:44, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It happened around the time of "The Crossing" and Tony Stark going evil and various other horrors in and around Avengers v. 1 #400. Best forgotten, I'd say, very unpopular time. The article would have to grow a lot to merit including it.--Erikacornia 23:38, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Insect control

[edit]

This article originally stated that she formerly possessed insect control. I've been doing some digging and as of the Avengers Handbook 2004, she still had this power. Can anyone provide me with a source for when (or if) she lost it? As far as I can tell, she still has it but rarely uses it. Rajah1 11:07, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Marvel Zombies

[edit]

I've (hopefully temporarily) removed the following recent addition to the "Marvel Zombies" section:

any years later Wasp is shown controlling a new body, with her mouth exposed, and more similar to a headless version of Jocasta's robotic form (the older one, still active, is given to Hawkeye). As Black Panther surmised years later, the hunger is more psychological than physical, and years of abstinence had restored her peace of mind. Wasp still talks of giving the gift of immortality at the now much older Black Panther, who always refuses until he's fatally wounded by a rebellious Acolyte, opposing his peaceful ways. The Wasp then bites Black Panther, restoring her addiction to human flesh in the process, but with the last spark of sanity reasons that this time some weeks of abstinence could purge again her mind.

The section is marked with spoiler tags, so presumably this is very recent material. Could we have a reference for this development? --Tony Sidaway 14:42, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Ultimates06.jpg

[edit]

Image:Ultimates06.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

B-Class

[edit]

Heya.  :) I don't disagree with the B-class rating anymore; it is pretty good, although I'd strengthen up the sourcing in places, particularly the "Civil War" and on, the Powers section, and the Other versions section if you want it to move past a B. She's a significant enough character that I think she could go higher with some work. 204.153.84.10 (talk) 15:22, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. The entire character biography reads as too in-universe, which is odd, and makes the character seem like a real person. It would be better to find citations about how the different writers interpreted her character. Why did they make her out to be an abused wife? These are good questions, and treating a fictional character like a real one fails to address them in a way an encyclopedia should. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 02:46, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What to do...?

[edit]

I changed the intro (but not other contents) to reflect Pym's new status as the Wasp. Obviously more work needs to be done, but which route should we take?

(a) Change "Wasp (comics)" to a disambiguation page and move content to "Janet van Dyne"

(by the way, is "van" capitalized or not?)

(b) Include both Hank and Jan under "Wasp (comics)" (like the Flashes)

(c) Merge "Henry Pym" with "Wasp" and call it something like "Henry Pym and Janet van Dyne"

(d) Something else...?

I favor (c) since the characters' histories are so intertwined, but suspect others would prefer separate listings. And of course we would have to also figure out how many related characters (Scott Lang, the female Yellowjacket, Black Goliath, Giant-Girl, Stature, Stinger...) to incorporate...

Your thoughts...? --Dawud —Preceding unsigned comment added by 163.28.64.50 (talk) 08:57, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A lot of Hank Pym's other aliases are also legacy aliases and we've used different ways of dealing with this - Ant-Man is a mini-article, after a recent update Giant-Man is getting there (or I can't think of a way to slim it back down) and Goliath (comics) and Yellowjacket (comics) are both set index articles and Giant-Man was one (of which there are quite a few in comics for various reasons).
My favoured solution would be to move this to Janet van Dyne, fix the incoming links and then convert Wasp (comics) to a set index (it wouldn't be a disambiguation page, as it'd be an incomplete one and so would get redirected).
However, the lack of replies over the years suggests there isn't a huge demand for this, so it is probably not worth the effort of fixing the links but I thought I might as well add in the best solution (IMHO, of course) in case anyone else was wondering about it. Nadia Pym

[edit]

Shouldn't nadia have her own page? She has her own solo series. Rachelskit (talk) 01:39, 15 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please establish notability based on criteria as outlined in WP:GNG, having her own series does not necessarily grant notability.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 01:53, 15 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Mother and daughter

[edit]

Since it's considered "vandelism" when I separated Janet van Dyne to her own page, how about I suggest it here due to both her and Nadia van Dyne are the Wasp so it's undermining that one is on the Wasp's page and other isn't.
