IPs

[edit]

Oops, that wasn't my intention at all. Glancing at the IPs edit history (and their long time vandalism to the same article) I assumed a longer block was safe. I'll be more careful in the future. Mgm|(talk) 13:46, Mar 21, 2005 (UTC)

While I can't reach my email now, I usually reply to requests to unban if someone was to contact me (either personally or through the mailing list. Were you victim of one of the IPs I blocked? Mgm|(talk) 14:04, Mar 21, 2005 (UTC)

Candidates for speedy deletion

[edit]

When you nominate a CSD please don’t remove its content. When you blank a page and insert {{delete}} with no edit summary then one has to browse previous revisions in the history to know what is actually nominated for deletion and why. On the other hand, when you enter {{deletebecause|some reason}} (or {{db|reason}} for short) at the very beginning of the article, everything is instantly clear and the reason of the deletion, as was as the first part of the article, is present in the deletion log. Thanks. Rafał Pocztarski 04:02, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Keep up the good work

[edit]

Yeah, the guy's right about CSD nominations. But the other contributions I've seen of you are excellent. Keep up the good work. I might even nominate you for adminship if you rake together a few more substantial edits. :) Mgm|(talk) 20:15, Mar 22, 2005 (UTC)

Question about wikipedia

[edit]

I recieved a welcome message from you on my talk page. Thanks a lot for the links and the warm welcome. I have used most of the links by now, and I am enjoying being part of the Wikipedia community. I've been doing a lot more reading here, now that I'm looking for things to edit.

You offered a chance for me to ask a question on your talk page, so I thought I'd take advantage of that. I notice that there seems to be a parish-politics kind of undertone in this community. I have no objection to that, and I understand completely (although I'm surprised that such things as an arbitration committee are necessary) that the internet can quickly become a flame-war kind of place.

So what I wanted to ask is this: I don't really care about any of that. Is that considered bad form? I mean, I do want to contribute to the encyclopedia, but I'm a little intimidated when I read that there are re-votes on ammendments to the guidelines for the arbitration committee. This is not the type of activity that I enjoy taking part in. Meanwhile, I don't want to be a marginal or a parasitic presence. What is your experience and perspective on this?

Thank you again for offering to answer my questions. I'm not really looking to put this as a topic on the village pump, because I have visions of getting assaulted by highly community-active people who think I'm a terrible person.
