Harry Fox not the originator of Foxtrot?
[edit]I was under the impression that the "legend" that Foxtrot was named after Harry Fox was just that... an unverified legend. According to my copy of Victor Sylvester's "Modern Ballroom Dance" (which is not an authoritative reference, otherwise I would simply change the page), "[i]t has the eponymous hero in the person of one Harry Fox, who was among the first to introduce it to the vaudeville stage, but the suggestion that it was named after the gait or pace of the horse, known in the West as a 'Foxtrot', is a much more plausible one."
- It could be both: a pun with Harry's name clicked into place. In fact, the gait alone IMO does not fit the story: it is a diagonal gait, and surely doesn't fit for the description of a dance of a couple or a single person, unless something else (like, one Harry) comes into play. I will not vouch, however. Mikkalai 18:24, 30 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit]Sorry, but there are thousands of foxtrot tunes, hundreds of which are simply fascinating and released severali times in multiple arrangements. If there are classical tunes that have wikipedia articles, then we may list them here. Still another problem is wikipedia:Verifiability. Who says taht a tune is foxtrot? For example, Zoot Suit Riot is a swing dance hit. `'mikka (t) 04:22, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
